"The Giant Crystal"

  • Mood:
We worked on the Labyrinth very little today, but what we did was amazing!! The friend whom this labyrinth is being built for, has a very large quartz crystal which he asked if we could add to the center.

I was delighted!! It is beautiful! It weighs about 12 lbs, is about a foot and a half long and approx. 6“ in diameter. We dug a small hole big enough for the base of the crystal to sit in, gave a blessings and placed the crystal just as the sun set and moon was coming up, perfect! The surrounded it with the stones that it displaced. This takes the top point out of the center cross over point, and gives a very nice place to sit and meditate. This was a place on the design that I was not completely pleased with, but now I am.

Something else I haven’t mentioned is the heart shaped stone that we dug up on the property. I is even pinkish in color so I placed it at the “heart” of the Labyrinth. The crystal now sits right about the heart stone. This is what is so wonderful about making natural, organic labyrinths, they take on a character and beauty all their own.

At this point we have 35, 5 gallon buckets of rocks in the labyrinth. We still have 5 circuits to complete, and since the line gets longer as it they get further away from the center, I figure we will need about 30 more buckets to complete it. Most of the rocks we got from the rockery, it was just easier. We are also gleaning rocks from the property which is where we got the Heart Stone. I hope we can get the rest from the property. If not we may have to take a trip the the local river.

I thank the powers that be... for all there is...

Labyrinths & Bubbles & Weddings oh my!!...

  • Mood: Life is a journey, not a destination.

As my first Labyrinth gets underway and almost completed, I am approached by someone who can help me to fulfill one of MY longtime visions. I have always wanted to do bubble at a wedding as my character Viscosity – The Bubble Fairy.

Now I am doing Labyrinths and I have even come up with a wedding labyrinth, which I will make into a portable one soon. For those of you who do not know I am also an ordained Minister of Peace.

Today I was approached by a lovely lady who is getting married in January on a working permaculture farm. It will not only be a renaissance theme wedding, it will also be a renaissance faire wedding. They will have booths for people to trade and barter. This is a very interesting opportunity for me, and I feel there may be a possibility for a friendship there.

I even had a vision of myself as Viscosity facilitating the layout of the Labyrinth without saying a word. Blowing bubble the whole time. I think it would be magical!

I am so looking forward to finishing up with the details of making this happen! I am looking forward to seeing how this well fall together.

Continue in love and light...

The Labyrinth continues, just not as I expected... and that's a good thing... :)

  • Mood:

It's been to rainy to work on the Labyrinth, and I'm out of rocks for now.

So in my downtime I have been doing some research on Labyrinths and came across some very interesting stuff.

One of the main things I came across was the Labyrinth Society website. I knew a little about the LS before, but never took the time to look them up. If you are interested in more Labyrinth information, that is a great recorse.

On the Labyrinth Society site I found a link about an art project. It's more than an ART project! It's an awakening project as far as I can see. His name is Alex Champion and the name of his project is the Line Art project. He is encouraging people to build Labyrinths and Earth Art, basically sacred earth art that can be seen from the air, all on the 39th parallel north. This is the longitudinal line that separated the United States North and South.

He has had a lot of people build on the line and he has a list of some of them that have been built. I checked out some of them on Google Earth and had a great time. I am working on my own list. I would like to visit more Labyrinths now. I have stumbled across them in the past. I would mention it to someone if I was in a new town visiting and usually someone would point me in the right direction. Now I want to GO see them. Those of my choosing.

So all of this is very serendipitous! I know I'm taking the long way around, but I hope you can follow and not get too bored. I also hope the journey will be worth it to you. I know it was for me!!

So I guess I need to start at the beginning. About 15 years ago I was taking a series of classes in upstate New York. At a place called Lillydale. Lillydale is the spiritual learning campus for the Spiritualist Church. This was a one year curriculum unfortunately I moved before I finished.

One of the people I met there was an instructor and facilitator of Dowsing and Labyrinths. Just this meeting was serendipitous because I had brought several cloth card bags in various colors with me, that I had made. One of them was blue and I had painted a silver lightning bolt on it. At the time I didn't know why, I just did. That was not a symbol that I usually worked with. When I met him I had the feeling to give him that blue bag, and when I did, his eyes lit up and he said you know, I can't find my bag I usually use, and it's very interesting because this lightning bolt is my symbol. I about fell over.

His name was Sig Longegren. He was there for just one weekend, but I soaked in everything he said. I learned the proper way to dowse, although I had been doing it properly instinctively since I was about 12. I also learned about Labyrinths. I had seen them in museums before and in a few places I had been. I was fascinated, but just didn't know that much about them. He taught us about lay lines and how most Labyrinths are set on these lay-lines. I also learned that walking a Labyrinth was a walking meditation.

The one thing I took away with me was how to draw them. I started drawing them right away and for months I drew pages and pages of them as if I was trying to figure out a puzzle, or secret. I found drawing them as meditative as walking them. I would trace the patterns with my finger, and I would get energy rushes.

Actually there was a mystery I was trying to figure out, but I didn't really know it at the time. When I would look at the Labyrinth I would have a feeling of in-completion. I was bothered by the idea that we stop in the middle and then go back out. In my spirit I felt, if it is a walking meditation, should it be interrupted in the middle? I felt that the path should continue from the center back out on it's own with out having to go back over you same path. The feeling I got was that, when you walk the labyrinth you work through your issues, therefore, you should not go back over them again. This became a puzzle that I was subconsciously working on for years. I got very frustrated with it at times, simply because I didn't really know what I was looking for, or even that I was looking for something.  I could just feel there was something I was overlooking.

Ever since that workshop all those years ago, I wanted to build a Labyrinth. The one at Lillydale was built by the students, under Sig's supervision. It was an amazing experience! There were several reasons why I didn't, but I think the main reason was because I didn't feel settled in the pattern of the labyrinth. I felt it had all been done before, but something new was about to happen. I could feel it!

This year I was unexpectedly required to leave my place of dwelling. The circumstances that followed were so divinely guided that I would have to pull out my diary and blog for a week, however that experience was for me not you...

Anyway, the move went unimaginably smooth! We moved from the Bay Area to Clear Lake, CA. Although I had never been here, and had no friends or relatives here, other than our dear friend we moved here to live with, I could not shake the feeling that I was here for a reason. That Spirit was going to do something here and that I would get to be near enough to see it.

Upon arriving we no sooner got our stuff put into storage and a friend of our friend asked if we could help him move. This move was just less than a mile away from our new home. He quickly became our friend, and so we set out to get acquainted. On the first day of visiting his property, I noticed part of his pasture that was flat and next to a line of Eucalyptus trees. When I would walk the area it felt peaceful I even meditated there on a few occasions.

About this same time, I had the urge to go buy a new notebook for drawing. Everything else was buried in storage so I just got a new one and some colored pencils. I sat for about two days in my room drawing labyrinths. The feeling of drawing them was upon me again and this time it was different. I was drawing the seed pattern, over and over without drawing out the labyrinth. As I was doing this I started drawing the corners and dots in different combinations. After doing this for a while, I realized I should try drawing the connecting lines and see what happens. It was then I discovered the Labyrinth pattern I had been looking for.

It was still 7 circuits, and it was still the “Goddess” labyrinth that I had studied for so long, but this meandered to the center and then meandered on a shorter pattern right back out. The path the the center is much longer than that going out. When I discovered what I was seeing on the paper I started to cry and was very grateful and honored that Spirit had chosen to use me to bring this pattern to reality.

The Labyrinth Begins!

  • Mood:

Yesterday was a very exciting day for me. I have been drawing labyrinths on paper for about 15 years. But it wasn't until recently that I have felt drawn to actually make one.

The circumstances came up for me to build a labyrinth on the land of a friend of mine. He is shy so I will not disclose the location other than it is in Northern California. He bought more land than he is using at the moment and I asked him if I could build a labyrinth on his property. I don't know exactly what he was thinking when I asked him, but he said yes.

I let him see some of my drawings to help explain a little better how much space it would take and what it would be made of. It's simply rocks. I have seen them get quite  elaborate, but for now, rocks are fine.

I find rocks as my local rockery to be the way to go on this one, as there are not a lot of places near by that have the amount of rock I will need for this project. So far we have laid down 6 buckets of rock.

The photo below shows the basic layout with the first 3 and a half middle arches done. We ran out of rock at this point. I will be taking more pictures of this project. I'm very excited to see this grow!

This Labyrinth will be a 14 circuit with 22 switchbacks. It is a continuous labyrinth in that it does not stop in the center. It will be a continuous path that takes a long time to get to the center, but not very long to get back out.

I feel that this pattern has been given to me by the universe, as I have never seen one that is continuous, at least not in the what I call "goddess" labyrinth. I call it that because it looks like the goddess with her arms stretched out. When this one is finished you will see what I mean. I’ve noticed in drawing labyrinths that the continuous one looks even more like the "goddess".

Before I even have this one finished, I got an invitation from another friend of mine, to come make one on her property in Auburn. She would like to have it before the summer solstice. I'm excited!

I am learning more and more about the labyrinth everyday, and it's beautiful!!

New website, new life!!

  • Mood:

I can feel the tumblers of divine appointment click into place as things around me change without my conscious effort.

Bought a new Turkey roaster today to heat my magical stones (from Big Sur) for Hot Stone Therapy. I am so looking forward to using them as my new kit. I'm tired of using a heating pad for this application. Even when I am traveling I think this is going to be a staple for my travel kit. Hot stone just feels so good! The penetration of the heat and moisture is relaxing not only to the muscles, but to the whole being. It feels comforting somehow.

I have had quite a few responses from my local campaign to re-start my massage business in a new location. Lake county is not as affluent as Santa Clara Co. However I have been meet with warm feeling. More so than when I originally started my business back in 93'.

All of the preparations have been made, both by me and by the universe. Now it's time to step back and watch as I see my new life emerge from the ashes of the old one. Not that my life was completely ruined, but parts of it are finally now healing to the point of being able to move forward in a bold direction. I have a new confidence I didn't have before. I know that I am becoming the person I was destined to be.

May I be so bold as to say?!...
